A registration at the register portal will allow the user to retrieve also documents that are subject to a charge from all register courts in any German federal state. No other registration at any state level will be required anymore.

For the first time, new users are able to use the function Register in order to register ONLINE with the register portal. When this function has been selected the respective form will be opened in which the user has to fill in all required fields. You will find a detailed description of the individual fields below. Once the form has been completed you can save the application form by clicking on the button OK then the user will be shown the application details in a summary prepared for printout. The application form shown on display has to be printed out by the applicant. It must be then signed and sent to the service centre of the common register portal of the federal states by mail. The service centre will then enable the user account and send the user an appropriate notice.

During registration, eligible users can apply for the permission to use the register portal free of charge for one or several federal states. For this purpose you only need to informally quote the statutory provisions that allow you to be exempted from fees.

During the registration procedure you have to enter a number of details. These details are divided in six categories:

- the subscriber’s details
These details include contact and registration information concerning the subscriber. If the applicant is a company the contact information of the respective person in charge must be indicated. The following data fields can be entered:

With the user name any subscriber can log on to the portal once the user account has been enabled.

The password that you can choose freely must contain at least eight characters. For security reasons you must enter the password two times.

- postal address
The data entered under the category “postal address” are used by the service centre to contact you. This address will be used to send the letter informing you that your user account has been enabled and to send to you invoices, if required. The following data must be entered here:

- bank account
If the user would like to pay by way of “direct debiting” he must enter the relevant banking information. The bank account registered with us will be debited to the amount of the fees payable for requested services. The following information must be registered:

- company/authority
Here the companies or authorities can enter the relevant application data. The following information is required:

In the last box you can also enter the organizational unit of the company/authority that will access the common register portal of the German federal states.

- invoice address
In this category you enter the invoice address if it is different from the postal address.

- application for exemption from fees
You must apply for an access to the register data exempted from charges for each state separately. In the text field next to the name of the state you have to enter the appropriate regulation on exemption from fees. The service centre of the common register portal of the federal states makes a decision on the basis of the respectively applicable law whether an exemption from fees will be granted or not.
